Use these to create a clear set of values or principles, or even a complete mission statement, that can be communicated to potential customers.

Think about your ideal customer and define what they look like. How old are they? Where are they from? Are they a particular gender?
Do they have specific interests? The more detailed definition, the more helpful it will be as you begin to build your brand and marketing strategy.
3. Understand your competitors and what they offer
Do a bit of research on your competitors to better understand the market. What's currently out there? Who's offering similar products or services to you? How much are they charging?
This will help you to establish your position in the market and determine where you can add value to your customers. Work on developing a value proposition: why would a customer choose you over a competitor?

Using all of this information, develop a business plan to help guide your actions for the coming years.
It is good to have a detailed 12 month plan with goals and plans of how to get there, as well as longer plans to demonstrate long-term ambitions (typically 3-5 year plans).

Once you have set your business goals, you will know where to focus your marketing.
Consider the platforms you will use, how you will use them, how much it will cost and what you hope to get from them.
6. Build your online presence through social media
Set up social media accounts, build a following and start engaging with your audience.
